Recognition for Art and Writing at this year’s Atlantic Journalism Awards

The Atlantic Journalism Awards announced its 2019 winners on May 8, 2020 (read the news release). I was honoured to receive recognition for my artwork. My landscape art featured on the fall 2019 cover of Atlantic Books Today, which secured Gold for Best Cover.
One of my nonfiction pieces, “Accordion to Don” from the summer 2019 issue of Newfoundland Quarterly took home Silver for Best Profile Article too. This the second year in a row I’ve secured silver in that category (last year, it was for a profile piece for Saltscapes featuring fifth-generation fisherman, Eugene Maloney, from Bay Bulls, Newfoundland). Check out the full list of awardees and catch up on some of the best journalism across Atlantic Canada from 2019. Congratulations to all of the winners and my thanks to the AJA organizers and judges.
